Position Overview: The Director of Prefabrication for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) services is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of designing, fabricating, and installing prefabricated modules for building projects. This role ensures that MEP systems are efficiently planned, constructed, and integrated to meet project requirements, timelines, and budgetary constraints while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Management:
- Collaborate with project engineers, architects, and design teams to review and approve MEP prefabrication designs.
- Ensure designs are optimized for prefabrication, considering efficiency, material usage, and modularity.
- Work with stakeholders to integrate MEP systems into the broader architectural and structural design of the project.
Fabrication Oversight:
- Supervise the fabrication process of MEP modules in off-site manufacturing facilities.
- Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, and subcontractors to ensure the timely production of high-quality prefabricated components.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure adherence to design specifications,industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage inventory and materials used in the prefabrication process to ensure minimal waste and efficient resource use
Installation Coordination:
- Plan and oversee the installation of MEP prefabricated modules at construction sites.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure proper integration and alignment of MEP systems with other building components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any installation issues that arise on-site, ensuring timely project completion.
Project Management:
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all prefabrication activities are aligned with project timelines
- Monitor and report on project progress, including design, fabrication, and installation stages.
- Manage the budget for prefabrication projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions and adherence to financial constraints.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to keep them informed of project status and address any concerns or modifications.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, drafters, fabricators, and installers involved in the MEP prefabrication process.
- Ensure that all team members are adequately trained in prefabrication techniques, safety protocols, and the latest industry standards.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the prefabrication team.
compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all MEP prefabrication activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of team members and contractors during fabrication and installation.
- Regularly audit prefabrication processes to identify potential risks and areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Minimum one year experience in MEP prefabrication, including design, fabrication, and installation.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and MEP system design principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
