Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical and Functional Specialist to assist with Java application development, troubleshoot technical issues, optimize SQL queries for reporting, and work closely with business users to improve system performance and functionality. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience with Java, Cobol Mainframe programming, and SQL, and will play a critical role in bridging technical and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support:
· Assist with Java application development and provide troubleshooting for related issues.
· Write, optimize, and manage SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
· Support users with technical issues and improve overall system performance.
Functional Support:
· Understand business needs and translate them into clear technical requirements.
· Collaborate with both users and developers to streamline processes and enhance functionality.
· Test new features to ensure they meet business objectives and requirements.
Problem Solving:
· Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to Java applications and SQL databases.
· Analyse operational problems and propose effective solutions for improvement.
Teamwork:
· Maintain smooth communication between technical teams and business users.
· Contribute to system improvements, process automation, and overall efficiency.
Skills and Requirements:
· Strong knowledge of Java and Cobol Mainframe programming.
· Proficiency in SQL databases and writing optimized queries.

Good to have Skills:
· Experience with Enterprise Java backend frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, or JPA.
· Exposure to frontend UI development, particularly with React and Typescript.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel Macros for reporting and automation.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· 3-4 years of experience working with Java, Cobol, and SQL.
· Experience in technical support or a similar role is highly desirable.
· 2+ years of experience in operational support, including incident management, system monitoring, and issue resolution.
Must-Have:
· At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Java, Cobol Mainframe programming, and SQL.
