PROJECT DELIVERY DIRECTOR

As part of the Data Centre Regional Business Unit team, the Director, Project Execution is responsible for setting up project delivery teams with the qualifications & experience whilst working with cross functional teams to ensure the successful initiation, planning, execution, and closure of projects, and that performance targets are achieved, risks managed, and opportunities maximised on projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Key advisor to RBU DTC Lead on all project related activities, including reporting on matters in relation to the performance of projects against agreed performance metrics.
- Participate in new business opportunities & project review procedures, commencing at regional business unit levels, progressing to Executive Board if value, or perceived exposure exceeds certain thresholds.
- Participate in the review and development of PIRA or TERA prospects, ensuring realistic, resourceable plans are developed for scalable proposal development and project execution
- Provides leadership and strategic guidance, chairing meetings and supporting the development of business and project strategies to deliver the required levels of profitability.
- Draft business unit and project performance policies and procedures; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes as appropriate.
- Provide strategic guidance, support, and challenge, to ensure effective control, forecasting and management of projects
- Lead service delivery with key clients; maintaining and strengthening relationships, using opportunities to cross-sell and manage a team delivering single or multiple services
- Provide advice and counsel to Project delivery teams on key day to day activities and associated issues that arise during project execution and delivery.

- Develop and implement a strategy to ensure that the project has the right supervision and management capabilities and is delivered against project/contract requirements.
- Provide management, motivation, inspiration, and technical leadership for a wide range of teams engaged on projects
- Perform monthly project reviews, ensuring projects are being executed to company standards, practices, and procedures, the contract, and project execution plan.
- Lead the Project Steering Committees, the monitoring of, and reporting on, strategic and operational risks and related key controls to identify, quantify, monitor and minimize risks (and maximize opportunities) in projects.
- Assists project staff in developing project deliverables; reviews and approves schedules, budgets, project milestone dates.
- Oversees all aspects of the procurement and contracting process from procurement planning through acquisition, contract administration and close out. Ensures complex bid processes conform with corporate policies and procurement practice, ensuring fair and open competition and best benefit to the company.
- Perform quantitative analysis of contract documents and review of project program requirements for commercial viability and application of risk management, with particular emphasis on risk allocation.
- Promotes a culture of continuous improvement including the set-up of tools, software, processes, and committees to learn and share best practice and to improve efficiencies and productivity
- Represent the company to external contacts and stakeholders building and maintaining the company’s reputation.
- Internal functional management including resource planning, performance management and career development of team members, including performing employee assessments, developing succession and personal development plans, and seek out future organizational talent.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Degree in Project or Construction Management or equivalent Construction related qualification.
- Master’s degree in construction related field is an advantage.
- Member of a relevant professional construction body is an advantage.
- With an extensive international construction experience with a sound level of schedule and contract management
- Looking for someone with exposure in large EPC company/Contractor experience able to handle major Data Centre projects and ideally multiple projects if possible.
- MUST have at least 25 years of experience in project management experience with at least 10 years of experience in a director role
- MUST have experience with a project value of $500m from tender to completion, including commissioning brownfield & greenfield Data Centre’s.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Manages or provides oversight on a portfolio of projects or program(s) of significant size and complexity and significant financial impact.
- Demonstrable people leader with solid experience managing and developing multidisciplinary project delivery teams.
- Results-oriented with an extremely high work ethic, stringent health, safety and quality standards, and hands-on, can-do attitude.
- Manage customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations, and maintain long-term relationships.
- Ability to influence, advise, and recommend courses of action to management and executives, including managers and executives within client organizations.
- Must be able to travel regionally and internationally, including spending extended periods on internal assignment as required.
- Encourage and challenge others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.

- Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and have an appreciation of industry standards for redundancy levels and Uptime Institute.
- Knowledge of international Design Codes and Standards.
- Expert knowledge on Construction Safety Standards with ability to drive safety culture.
- Understanding of project delivery methodology including earned value, critical path scheduling, prime contract, subcontract and change management, procurement and supply chain methodology.
- Strong focus and track record in the delivery of sustainable design and construction.
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with relevant site people to execute work.
- Excellent time management and teamwork skills
- MUST be confident and excellent in networking with people of all levels.
