Risk and Compliance Officer (Commodity Trading)
The Risk and Compliance Officer in Commodity Trading is responsible for ensuring that all trading activities adhere to regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role involves assessing and mitigating risks associated with commodity trading, including market, credit, and operational risks. The officer monitors compliance with relevant laws and regulations, implements risk management strategies, and ensures that trading practices align with legal and ethical standards.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Ensure that the Company conducts its business in full compliance with all local and international laws and regulations and the Group's internal guidelines and standards that are relevant to its industry
• Monitor the commodity trading activities on an ongoing basis to ensure that risk levels are within acceptable limits. Generate regular reports to provide insights into the current risk exposure, and any deviations from established risk thresholds
• Develop risk management strategies and monitor the Company's overall trading and hedging exposure
• Reconcile the monthly risk report with information received from front office and accounting
• Establish professional standards, best business practices, and internal systems of control
• Communicate and report risk management related issues to GM of the company
• Develop and regularly audit company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risk
• Perform periodic reviews to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls measures of the Company
• Create and manage effective corrective/preventive action plans in response to audit discoveries and compliance violations
• Undertake special projects, ad-hoc audits, process reviews, fraud investigation or similar on request
• Ensure compliance with local and multi-national sanctions programs and anti-money laundering regulations
Minimum qualification
• Minimum 3 years of risk management experience, ideally with commodities trading companies
• Have knowledge and good understanding about physical commodity trading (especially metals), including incoterms, different payment terms, risk mitigation measures for international trade
• Minimum Bachelor of Business (Economics & Finance) are preferred or equivalent qualification
• Fluency in oral and writing Chinese (to communicate with colleagues in China) and English.
• Sharp business acumen (including ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return), excellent
interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
• Significant experience in managing stakeholders across business and different entities
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PPT
