The Regional Construction Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating project schedules for civil construction projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors, the planner ensures that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role involves planning for multiple large-scale projects in the region, managing project timelines, and adjusting plans to accommodate changes in project requirements or unexpected delays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed project schedules using project management software (such as Primavera P6 or MS Project) that align with contract timelines and milestones.
- Coordinate with the procurement, logistics, and human resources teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment, materials, and manpower.
- Identify potential delays or challenges and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and external subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Regularly update schedules based on project progress, and ensure that any deviations are tracked and reported.
- Provide weekly or monthly reports to upper management detailing project progress, potential risks, and schedule adjustments.
- Collaborate with the finance team to align project schedules with the approved budget and cost forecasts.
- Ensure that all planning activities comply with local, regional, and national regulations, especially concerning safety and environmental standards.
- Evaluate completed projects to identify areas for process improvement, applying lessons learned to future projects.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in construction planning, scheduling, or project management, preferably in the civil construction industry.
- Proficient in Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent scheduling software.
- Strong understanding of civil construction techniques, processes, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with regional construction codes, environmental and safety regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in dynamic environments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
