Science Laboratory Support Officer
The key roles and responsibilities of the science laboratory support officer are to provide general cleaning and assist the science laboratory technician to maintain the science laboratories and preparation rooms.
General cleaning of laboratories and preparation rooms
1. Sweep and mop floors of laboratories and preparation rooms after use.
2. Empty trash bins placed at the sink areas and floors at the end of each day.
3. Clean laboratory benches and sinks at the end of each day if there are practical lessons on the day.
4. Refill hand soap, disinfectants and paper towels.
5. Empty broken glassware container if it is filled.
Provide general cleaning of laboratory equipment and apparatus under laboratory technician’s guidance
6. Washing of glassware (beakers, measuring cylinders, plastic bottles and vials).
Support laboratory technician to prepare materials and equipment under supervision
7. Replicate the experimental set-up after an example has been shown.
8. Weigh chemicals into bottles, fill up bottles with solutions and/or prepare other science-related equipment or materials.
9. Distribute or replenish equipment or chemicals to students during practical lessons.
