Responsibilities:
* Developing and maintaining a clear and ambitious vision for Wave’s anti-fraud technology, ensuring that our systems evolve to meet emerging threats and business needs.
* Collaborating closely with the team’s product manager to prioritize key initiatives and define the best next steps to build toward the long-term strategy.
* Scoping, designing, and implementing new tools and features that safeguard our users from fraudulent activity.
* Architecting and building the data infrastructure required to effectively analyze and score fraud risks in real time, ensuring scalability and reliability.
* Maintaining the highest bar for code quality, system design, and architecture within the team, ensuring that all solutions are both efficient and maintainable.
* Mentoring and developing your teammates, helping them grow as engineers.
Requirements
* Deep passion for working on impactful software—you want to make a difference by protecting users and fighting fraud.
* Hands-on technical leadership experience—you should have a strong track record of writing code, solving complex problems, and mentoring engineers.
* 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, data science, or machine learning, with hands-on experience leading technical projects.
* 3+ years experience in designing and building anti-fraud systems—you should be deeply familiar with fraud detection techniques and systems, and have led initiatives that safeguard users at scale.
* Proven experience in building and deploying machine learning models in production.
* Proficiency in Python and experience with data pipelines, machine learning infrastructure, and working with large-scale data.
