We are looking for a candidate to support the legal work of the Law Society Secretariat’s departments. The candidate will be primarily assigned to the Compliance department and will be required to support the work of other legal departments from time to time. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across different teams and be exposed to a wide variety of legal work.


Roles & Responsibilities


To support the legal work of the Law Society Secretariat’s departments generally, including but not limited to, the following:

  • To assist in the processing of applications for/renewals of Practising Certificates
  • To attend to legal and compliance enquiries from solicitors and law practices
  • To assist in the work of the Admissions Committee Secretariat and the Anti-Money Laundering Secretariat:
  • To assist in the development, management and streamlining of standard operating procedures, systems and processes of the department
  • To process court applications pertaining to the admission of advocates and solicitors, and lawyers (non-practitioners), as well as ad hoc admissions
  • To assist in other court applications involving the Law Society


Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree holder in Law and/or other related disciplines
  • Paralegal experience preferred
  • Experience with e-litigation preferred
  • Able to conduct legal research
  • Minimum of 2 years of working experience in Singapore
  • Prior experience working in a Singapore law practice preferred
  • Good command of English and good writing and communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and work independently within tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated and resourceful
  • Good team player who demonstrates team spirit and collaboration with others
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills and able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • A positive attitude, adaptable to changes and open and wiling to learn
  • A proactive attitude to take initiative on matters and has a sense of responsibility for the work given
  • Attentive to details
  • Proficient in Ms Word, Excel and PowerPoint
