RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Fellow must conduct research with a well-defined research agenda during the term of the appointment (60% of the Fellow's portfolio) in order to secure a faculty position at a reputable Law School. It is expected that the Fellow will publish research papers in reputable refereed journals during his or her term of the appointment and give at least one Research Seminar at SMU annually.
  • The Fellow will be expected to be collegial and assist in the administration work of CCLA at SMU which includes the organisation of seminars and conferences or other events for SMU and the writing of reports and position papers. Administrative work will form 40% of the Fellow's portfolio. Candidates who do not wish to do administrative work should not consider applying for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate degree in law from a reputable university.
  • The candidate should possess research experience in dispute resolution and/or private international law with a demonstrated record of research output in the form of refereed journal articles or conference papers. An interest in research in the Asian context is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • The applicant must be of exceptional calibre, having attained a doctoral degree in law, which must have been successfully completed and examined during the period of 1 January 2022 to present.
  • Candidates who have completed and submitted their dissertation may also be considered.
OTHER INFORMATION
  • The Fellow must be in residence at SMU throughout the term of his or her appointment
  • With the option to extend another year subjected to performance and approval
