Senior Mechanical Engineer (Product)

We are looking for a senior Mechanical Engineer to join us in Singapore, with opportunities to travel overseas.

In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical design, development and testing for Xnergy wireless power and power conversion products.

This includes various stages in a product’s life cycle such as concept/ architecture, prototyping, evaluation, production transfer, manufacturing, and maintenance.

You will work closely with the R&D team (hardware, firmware, and software engineers) to contribute to power converter design and shape the development of our future product strategies.

You are expected to provide theoretical knowledge and hands on skill in mechanical design, stress and strength, thermal, vibration, acoustic noise relevant to product.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  1. Drive all design aspects of mechanical systems in product, i.e., structures, assembly, reliability, PCB, electro-mechanics parts, thermal management, vibration/shock/drop, acoustic noise, etc.
  2. Contribute to mechanical aspect of product in all phases of the development life cycle including requirements analysis, architecture, design, manufacturability, testing, and release to ensure high quality product.
  3. Work closely with R&D team, field applications, production teams, vendors, and suppliers for specifications, design, prototyping, and fabrication locally and remotely.
  4. Perform mechanical design and design optimization involving 3D modelling/2D drawing, tolerance stack-up analysis, material selection, structure analysis, process and tooling (stamping, die casting, moulding).
  5. Develop test jigs, tools, testing methods, and verification process.
  6. Produce documentation for mechanical design (3D 2D parts, assemblies, drawings) and test results.
  7. Finding root-cause and solve technical issues during new product development and product improvement as well as in field escalations.
  8. Contribute to related technology roadmaps, features development, next generation product.
  9. Plan and schedule to meet goals, deliverables, and deadlines.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
  2. Possess minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in products (power related products will be an advantage).
  3. Good understanding and experience in product design cycle and documentation process.
  4. Solid experience with CAD software, such as Solidworks is a must.
  5. Knowledge and experience in product chassis design, assembly, thermal management, airflow, ingress protection, vibration, acoustic noise, testing, and design of experiment.
  6. Familiar with fabrication methods (sheet metal fabrication, CNC, 3D printer, injection moulding, die casting) and materials (metal, plastic, thermal related materials).
  7. Experience in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design For Assembly), tolerance analysis, cost analysis.
  8. Familiar with good design and engineering practices in industry.
  9. Experience working with supply chains and manufacturers.
  10. Strong practical knowledge on engineering drawing, testing, troubleshooting, including familiarity with equipment.
  11. Self-driven, proactive, assertive, organised, resourceful, disciplined, and able to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, team environment.
  12. Good interpersonal skills, analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese language.
  13. Able to work in start-up environment with global, cross-cultural, and cross-functional engagements.
