The DBA - Lead will manage 2 offshore junior DBAs to help optimize database systems, data interfaces/ETL, and data warehouses. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, enforcing database standards, and performing backup and recovery drills. The DBA will need to provide support outside of normal working hours for emergencies and collaborate with developers and support specialists to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of database administration experience in a large organization.
- Proficiency in MS SQL and MySQL databases; knowledge of Oracle is a significant advantage.
- Experience with database provisioning, patch management, and monitoring tools.
- Understanding of data backup, recovery procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with database security best practices and industry standards (SOX, ISO20000, ISO27001).
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies during off-hours.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; Cantonese is an advantage.
- Ability to work remotely with a self-driven attitude.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Oversees 2 junior DBAs situated in offshore location.
- Manage and support database operations, data interfaces/ETL, and data warehouses, ensuring high availability and performance. Databases are located in SG, HK, PH and EU.
- Perform daily monitoring, analysis, and patch management of databases, including MS SQL and MySQL.
- Provision and deploy databases across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
- Collaborate with application support specialists and developers to troubleshoot issues and optimize database performance.
- Ensure compliance with database standards, guidelines, and operational policies based on SOX/ISO20000/ISO27001/ITIL standards.
- Regularly perform database backup and restoration drills to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Prepare and maintain up-to-date documentation on database installation, configuration, and administration processes.
- Provide on-call support for emergency cases outside normal working hours as required.
