The SLim Group is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated early-career scientist as a Research Associate (RA) who is interested in advancing the application of protein cages as MRI contrast agent in identifying atherosclerotic plaques. The RA will be an individual contributor who is a technical expert and will be working in a multi-disciplinary team involving bioengineer, materials scientist, biological scientist, and medical physicist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up protocols for imaging and analyzing the protein cage within the plaques;
- Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project;
- Presenting results in various meetings/forums;
- Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency;
- Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise;
- Advising final year project and/or interns in the project.
Job Requirements:
- Master’s in bioengineering or related fields
- Working knowledge in protein production using E. coli and purification using AKTA FPLC
- Working knowledge in basic molecular biology techniques and protein analytics
- Experienced in protein cage handling
- Highly preferred skills: familiarity with atherosclerosis, MR image processing
- Able to design and execute experiments with minimal instructions
- Good communication skills in both verbal and written forms
- Take initiatives and lead a project and ensure delivery of outcomes in a timely manner
- Team player who will take part in general lab activities
