Junior Risk Management Officer (6-Month Contract)

Job Summary:

The Junior Risk Management Officer will assist in identifying, assessing, and monitoring the risks associated with the firm's activities in the capital markets, mainly with the fund management activities. The role is a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of converting to a full-time role based on performance. This role is also required to ensure compliance with MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore) regulations and corporate risk guidelines from the parent company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in identifying, measuring, and reporting financial, operational, compliance, and market risks across the company’s capital market operations.
    • Support in conducting regular risk assessments, preparing reports, and analyzing the company's risk profile.
    • Assist in monitoring key risk indicators and ensuring compliance with established risk management policies.
    • Help prepare risk management reports for senior management and regulatory bodies, including but not limited to MAS periodic returns.
    • Support the reporting process to the parent company in China, ensuring that risk updates are in line with corporate guidelines and timelines.
    • Assist in ensuring that the company adheres to MAS regulations, including those related to Capital Market Services (CMS) license holders.
    • Work closely with the compliance team to ensure timely filing of regulatory reports and maintain awareness of changes in regulatory requirements.
    • Liaise with stakeholders in Hong Kong and China, ensuring effective two-way communication of risk management strategies and requirements.
    • Support the development of internal controls to mitigate identified risks and ensure the proper implementation of the firm’s risk policies.
    • Assist in tracking and maintaining risk registers and incident reports.
    • Help implement risk mitigation strategies under the direction of senior risk management staff.
    • Participate in stress testing exercises, risk scenario analysis, and contingency planning.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, risk management, business administration or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in risk management, financial services, or related fields (internship experience in risk management is acceptable for fresh graduates).
  • Familiarity with MAS regulatory guidelines and risk management practices, particularly in capital markets, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Chinese regulatory guidelines and familiarity with the operations of Chinese SOEs will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to handle and interpret data.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Chinese (written and spoken) in order to communicate with the mandarin speaking stakeholders.
  • Attention to details and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and within a cross-cultural team environment.
