Sylvan Capital Management Pte. Ltd. is a Licensed Fund Manager under the Monetary Authority of Singapore, headquartered in Singapore. The Company manages a private equity fund that focuses on private equity growth capital/buyout investments in mid-market companies in the Asia Pacific region.

We are looking for a Private Equity Analyst to help augment our growing team. The role will engage across all functions of the firm and will have exposure to the entire deal process from origination and due diligence through deal structuring and post-investment portfolio management. We hire Analysts both right out of school and with up to 3 years of work experience.


This role is a balance between financial analysis, business strategy, and sharp execution. The ideal candidate is interested in growing businesses, has superior analytical skills, is proficient in excel financial modelling, is extremely organized and is a prolific writer who prides themselves on thoughtful and eloquent communication. Candidates who take initiative, have a tremendous work ethic and a high level of maturity are considered ideal.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation, review, and finalization of reports, ensuring accuracy and thorough analysis for decision-making by senior leadership and investors.
  • Serve as the primary interface with Managing Partners, Managing Directors, and other key stakeholders within the firm, as well as with Portfolio Company CEOs, CFOs, and Board members, providing strategic business-related analysis and guidance.
  • Oversee and contribute to advanced financial modeling, including sensitivity analysis, to evaluate potential investment opportunities and provide insights for high-level investment decisions.
  • Direct comprehensive data analysis and model development, utilizing both conceptual and quantitative approaches to assess risks, returns, and strategic options.
  • Lead the development of pitch books and fundraising materials, playing a key role in investor presentations and capital-raising processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, third-party vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring a collaborative approach to project execution and relationship management.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight on information/data gathering from service providers and stakeholders to ensure that the necessary data is available for investment analysis.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for portfolio companies, with a focus on driving revenue growth, operational improvements, and financial controls to maximize shareholder value.
  • Lead financial evaluation and due diligence of potential investment opportunities, coordinating with external advisors/consultants to ensure thorough risk assessment.
  • Act as a key negotiator in investment discussions, representing the firm’s interests in structuring deals, and securing favorable terms.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and monitoring of the firm’s portfolio assets, including regular review of monthly operating results, performance metrics, and strategic milestones.
  • Lead and mentor junior team members, ensuring their professional development and alignment with the firm’s objectives.
  • Travel required – approximately 10 – 15 trips per year for portfolio company oversight and investment due diligence.

Requirements:

  • Strong academic credentials – Bachelor’s Degree from an Ivy League institution is required; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
  • Extensive financial modeling experience and expertise in Microsoft Excel, with a proven ability to guide and review complex financial analyses.
  • Excellent writing skills and a strong command of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for developing investor materials and reports.
  • Significant transaction experience (5+ years) with a strong track record on both the buy-side and sell-side of deals.
  • Proven leadership ability and a demonstrated capacity to work independently, while providing direction to teams and stakeholders.
  • Highly analytical with a strong understanding of business growth strategy and the risk/return characteristics of private equity investments.
  • Previous private equity, investment banking, accounting, or consulting experience is required, with a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong experience in the U.S. market is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and oversee multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence outcomes.
  • Efficient, flexible, and adaptable in a fast-paced, multicultural working environment.
