Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design, specification, selection and services relating to mechanical equipment such as rotating machinery, pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, fired and unfired heat transfer equipment, utility equipment, packaged units, material handling and solids processing systems
- May also include the design, specification, selection and services of mechanical systems for buildings such as gases, fluids, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and vertical transportation
- Under broad direction, supervise and lead a group of engineers
- Set the technical standards and procedures for a group of engineers and designers
- Conduct various aspects of performance management, such as performance appraisals or counseling of employees with behaviorial or technical performance problems, and assist in the interviewing, hiring, and assignment of new personnel in the discipline
- Responsible for a measurable asset such as assigned staff and budget
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 20 years of related experience. Administrative or supervisory responsibilities at this level include tactical responsibility for supervising engineers on all projects requiring this discipline
- Incumbents at this level will usually hold certification as a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer
