JOB SUMMARY

  • The Operational, Technology and Cyber Risk (OTCR) organisation is instrumental in protecting and ensuring the resilience of Standard Chartered Bank’s operations, data, and IT systems by optimising operational, technology and cyber risk across the enterprise. As a critical function reporting into the Group Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the Group OTCR team serves as the second line of defence for assuring that controls are implemented effectively, in accordance with the OTCR Framework, and for instilling a risk culture within the Bank.
  • The Director, Reg Interpretation and Sox is a permanent, strategic role that requires strong business acumen and a detailed knowledge of OTCR Risk Frameworks (OR), and Operational Risk policies and standards. The successful candidate will have key skills in interpreting new and upcoming regulations, performing gap analysis, and implementing and tracking mitigation actions to close any gaps identified. The role holder will also be responsible to implement UK ACG reforms (referred to as UK SoX) withing the risk function.
  • The role reports directly to the Head, OTCR, ICS Framework, Risk Appetite & Stress Testing and will work closely with key stakeholders in Operational, Technology and Cyber risks, Finance and other parties as relevant .
  • This is a senior level role, and the individual will be required to engage with senior stakeholders across the business, technology, assurance, other risk functions and finance to implement the requirements of UK ACG.

Role Specific Responsibilities:

We are seeking an experienced and senior leader who will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for interpretation of new regulations pertaining to Operational Risk
  • Ensure that new regulations are effectively embedded in OTCR framework, policies and
  • Stay abreast of global economic trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks to continuously improve OTCR risk management practice
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to drive the implementation of UK ACG regulations (UK SoX)
  • Develop materials for regular updates to Head, OTCR, Risk MT, committees, on insights relating to new and upcoming regulations, UK SoX.
  • Involved in a driving role or support (as required) on matters relating central projects e.g. Basel IV framework implementation

  • Leads through example by upholding high standards of excellence, ethics & code of conduct, governance and risk awareness, and stakeholder partnership & collaboration
  • Collaborate with the wider OTCR team and share knowledge where relevant

Regulatory & Business Conduct:

This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identifying, escalating, mitigating and resolving risk, conduct and compliance matters.
  • Demonstrating leadership ability to ensure that the team achieves the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Risk framework.
  • Providing ongoing reporting of risk exposure into governance meetings and to key stakeholders and escalating any blockages to progress to ensure Group MT, Risk & CFCC, and OTCR Scorecard objectives are met.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 8+ years experience in the financial services space in operational risk
  • Experience in performing gap analysis and implementing mitigation actions to close identified gaps
  • Degree level education or equivalent
  • Industry related qualification in the role
