Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Assistant for “Identifying Transcriptomic and Epigenomic Impacts of Type-2 Diabetes on Aortic Arteries with Single-Cell Resolution” in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Genomic Data Science Lab combines QTL, single-cell, and spatial transcriptomic approaches to unravel the molecular mechanisms of polygenic diseases. Appointments will be made on a two-year contract basis, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and satisfactory performance.

Purpose of the post

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Boxiang Liu on the development of novel computational models and the analysis of single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data.

The Research Assistant will be responsible for bioinformatics data analysis and report directly to the Principal Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:

  • Perform single-cell and single-nucleus RNA-seq analysis;
  • Conduct spatial transcriptomic data analysis;
  • Design novel statistical methods for single-cell and spatial transcriptomic data;
  • Maintain high standards of professional conduct and data management;
  • Assist with other tasks as delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

  1. Qualifications / Discipline: Master or bachelor degree in a relevant discipline (including computer science, statistics, genomics, bioinformatics, biology, drug design, etc)
  2. Skills: Computer Science / Statistics / Genomics / Bioinformatics
  3. Experience: Statistical modelling, single-cell, QTL, and other genomic data analysis
