Responsibilities
- Manages all day-to-day operations of the pastry section of the kitchen.
- Preparation of pastry components like whipped cream, clotted cream, fresh fruits, etc.
- Decorate pastries and desserts using different types of icings, toppings etc. and ensure the food presentation will be aesthetically aligned with branding.
- Checks the quality of raw and baked food products to ensure that standards are met.
- Assists in determining how food should be presented and creates decorative food displays.
- Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking and baking.
- Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and Health and Safety standards.
- Ensure front of house with direct customer contact have full knowledge of all pastry items, ingredients and method in which pastries are prepared.
- Maintain cleanliness of work station area.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the café and kitchen.
- Ensure sufficient inventory of ingredients and packaging.
- Plate and serve pastries and cakes
- Perform cashiering duties (if required)
- Prepare and serve drinks (if required)
Requirements
- Minimum culinary/ baking related certificate
- SFA food handlers’ certificate
- Good knowledge of different types of pastry, dessert, cake decorating
- Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills
- Fluent in spoken English
- Any past F&B/ bakery experience would be advantageous.
- An approachable demeanour
- Positive work attitude and ability to work as a team player
