Senior Interior Designer

Our Singapore studio is currently on the lookout for creative, passionate and experienced Interior Designers to be part of a team focused on the design and delivery of both retail and mixed use projects from Concept right through to Detail Design and Construction.


Purpose of Role

You will be responsible for the design and management of an allocated project on a day-to-day basis, maintaining at all times the highest standards of design and client management. You will have a full understanding of the project process and work with minimal guidance from the project leader, delegating work to more junior members of the team as appropriate.


Your key responsibilities

  • Responsible for design and creativity on projects from concept design through to development and presentation, ensuring high quality outputs and creativity, with minimal guidance.
  • Actively seek and share inspiration and reference from sources outside of the business to support creative design solutions.
  • Strategic innovation through a proven understanding of trends and insights and interpreting these within unique design solutions.
  • Produce concept work using hand sketches and a variety of digital and traditional media to a high standard whilst directing the work of other junior team members on the project.
  • Assemble presentations using a variety of digital and traditional media, particularly Adobe InDesign.
  • Attend client meetings alone or with the support of the project leader leading or contributing to client presentations.
  • Competently source reference material and carry out research to ensure that materials and products are fit for purpose.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of markets, our clients and their competitors.
  • Attend site visits independently and respond to any issues.
  • Leading project communication, including liaising with the design & construction team and ensuring meetings are properly recorded by juniors.
  • Produce and check drawing packages for schematic and detail design stages
  • Establish and develop a strong working relationship with clients on allocated projects and identify project opportunities independently
  • Prepare accurate and timely fee proposals for projects.
  • Contribute proactively to business development, pitches, proposal writing and presentations.
  • Ensure successful delivery and completion of a project within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Oversee the work of others where appropriate and delegate work to junior members of the team.
  • Motivate, inspire and mentor more junior members of the team.

Your technical skills and experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Interior Design or design related discipline.
  • Approximately 8-10 years’ proven experience of working from concept to completion stage, with ability to manage own workload and the workload of more junior team members.
  • Ability to produce concept work using hand sketches to a high standard.
  • Experience of retail projects and large scale commercial projects is highly advantageous.
  • Advanced software skills, including both 2D and 3D software capabilities: Adobe Creative Suite, Autocad, SketchUp and/or an alternative 3D package such as Rhino. BIM proficiency in Revit.
  • Proven knowledge of materials and their application.
  • Ability to combine creativity and practicality with business awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience of liaising and developing client relationships.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear and full understanding of the project management process.
  • Team player with collaborative work ethic.
  • Proactive and conscientious.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively and responsibly while being a team player with a collaborative work ethic.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and developing skills and share knowledge with more junior members of the team.
