Young and research-intensive, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is ranked among the world’s top universities, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Spanish language position at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) within the School of Humanities (SoH). SoH excels in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching and research, aiming to equip students with current knowledge, critical thinking, research, and communication skills, empowering them to realise their potential and make lasting contributions to Singapore and beyond.
The CML in SoH currently offers electives in 16 modern languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Swedish, Thai and Vietnamese). The Centre places great importance on enhancing the intercultural knowledge and skills of the learners as well as their linguistic competence. Lecturer in Spanish
We are seeking an experienced lecturer capable of teaching introductory to advanced Spanish to tertiary students. Knowledge in current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies is preferred. Candidates should have proven track-record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development and knowledge of new technologies in language instruction. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract basis.
Selection Criteria:
- Postgraduate qualification in Spanish as a foreign/second language, Spanish Linguistics or in Spanish studies.
- Native proficiency in written and spoken Spanish to teach Asian adult students
- Experienced and demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish preferably at tertiary level.
- Experienced in developing Spanish language materials, including e-learning materials.
- Experienced with multimedia and computer-based instructional technologies.
- Ability to coordinate large courses.
- Proficiency in English (CEFRL C1) to communicate with students
Emoluments
Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
