Job Responsibilities
- Curate the makgeolli list and recommend pairings to complement the menu, considering guest preferences and enhancing the dining experience.
- Serve makgeolli to guests following proper techniques with ensuring a professional and smooth service.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of makgeolli, including ordering, restocking, and ensuring proper storage conditions to preserve makgeolli quality.
- Train and educate restaurant staff on makgeolli knowledge, proper service, and pairing techniques to enhance overall service quality.
- Engage with guests to understand their makgeolli preferences, provide recommendations, and offer a memorable and personalized makgeolli experience.
- Organize and host makgeolli tastings, pairing events, or makgeolli-themed dinners to promote the restaurant's makgeolli offerings and enhance guest engagement.
- Collaborate with chefs and restaurant management to develop and update the makgeolli list, keeping it aligned with current trends and guest preferences.
- Proactively recommend makgeolli selections to upsell and boost makgeolli sales while ensuring guests' satisfaction and repeat business.
Job Requirements
- Preferred to have a WSET Level 2 certification or equivalent wine qualification.
- At least 2 years of experience as a sommelier or in a similar wine-related role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Passion to learn about makgeolli; having relevant knowledge will be an advantage.
- Ability to engage guests with passion and knowledge about makgeolli, along with strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and upselling.
- High level of attention to detail in makgeolli presentation, service techniques, and maintaining makgeolli quality through proper storage and handling.
