Job Summary:
The Tunnel geologist produces a geotechnical work plan and assists in both bored and mined tunneling work to deliver the product to the project's requirement. He/she is expected to work well with the teammates to achieve the shared goals. Working night shifts will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide planning of additional Soil Investigation etc, related to tunnelling works.
- Conduct face mapping to understand the ground condition for tunneling.
- Support the tunneling operation from a geological viewpoint.
- Provide geological supervision to the tunneling operation.
- Ensure the work complies with the project protocol.
- Report to Tunnel Manager / Deputy Tunnel Manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Recognized bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of TBM bored tunneling experience.
- Tunneling experience using rock mass classification system.
- Experience in mapping of tunnel faces carried out during cutterhead intervention.
- Large diameter (over 10m diameter) bored tunneling experience
- Hydro-Shield TBM experience (if applicable)
- Good knowledge of local authority requirements and engineering standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good computer skills to fulfill the job functions.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize complex issues quickly
- Ability to work well under pressure
