Job Description
We are looking to hire a detail-oriented, hard-working Senior Legal Counsel to Global Compliance Policies team, responsible for cross-border government investigations/litigation. This person will work closely with U.S. regulators, in-house commercial lawyers, risk management, other legal/compliance professionals, as well as business and operations teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Support Global Compliance Policies and work closely with the other Legal and Compliance professionals, i.e., Legal, Compliance, AML, privacy, information security, risk management colleagues in the PRC and other jurisdictions, US-based business units, and other colleagues in the international and domestic business functions.
2. Responsible for coordinating responses to US/EMEA regulatory inquiries/investigations and leading compliance enhancement projects with various legal, compliance, and risk functions.
3. Develop compliance metrics and monitoring mechanisms to anticipate and ensure compliance with US state/federal regulator's requirements to mitigate regulatory risks.
4. Develop compliance training and communication programs and establish processes to ensure both existing and new employees are trained timely and adequately with respect to responses to government and regulatory compliance.
The Successful Applicant
1. Requirements:7-10 years of relevant legal and regulatory compliance experience. Strong skills in coordinating responses to regulatory inquiries and government investigations/litigation.
2. A team player and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple teams located in different jurisdictions and under strict deadlines.
3. Excellent project management skills and sound judgement.
4. The ideal candidate will be a confident self-starter with strong legal, interpersonal and organizational skills, regulatory compliance/government litigation experience, and demonstrable ability to effectively and proactively engage and partner with the business in a fast-paced and engaging environment.5. Resourceful, adaptable and flexible in a highly engaging, demanding and rewarding environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. 10% travel within US, and China expected
7. Experience with e-commerce, payments, MSB, or financial services preferred.
