Assistant General Manager, Network Planning & Strategic Development

To assist and support to GM, Network Planning & Strategic Development. The ideal candidate will be mainly responsible for managing the assigned lines through monitoring and assessing the existing network, as well as initiating and collaborating with Line management on service enhancements /modifications. You will also be involved in the exploration and design of new services as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Optimize vessel deployment through close collaboration with Trade team to identify opportunities of service network improvement.
  • Oversee performance analysis of existing services and initiate proposals relating to routing, vessel deployment and service proforma to ensure overall optimisation of present network and services.
  • Conduct feasibility studies of new services and lead negotiation with potential partners on business collaborations, drafting agreements for new services.
  • Analyse competitors’ landscape and identify market trends for potential new business collaborations.
  • Perform profit and loss analysis to support network changes or new products. This involves the creation of proforma schedules, product costings, and contribution analysis on volume and revenue projections.
  • Drive network research on maritime industry, economic conditions and business climates to assess market trends and review potential growth opportunities.
  • Support internal stakeholders and external partners to communicate network & products updates to ensure the right cost is being forecasted and accounted for in the result.
  • Maintain internal vessel fleet movement and cascading plan.
  • Other duties and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Graduated with a Bachelor degree in Maritime Business, Supply Chain Management, International Logistics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or any equivalent.
  • Candidates with minimum 5 years of experience in Shipping field preferred.
  • Resilient, self-motivated, result-driven, highly adaptable, and able to work independently.
  • Outstanding communication skills, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Candidate needs to be effectively bilingual in English and Mandarin as the position needs to frequently communicate with English or Chinese speaking associates both verbally and in writing whenever appropriate.
  • Advance working knowledge in Excel required, with experience in Formatting, Pivot Tables, Formulas, Filters and Sorting.
  • Able to travel to all the countries in the region from time to time, with up to 30% of the working time spent in countries outside Singapore.
  • Possesses a valid right to work in Singapore.
