Introduction to the Role:
We are seeking a Middleware Production Support Engineer to provide 24/7 operations support from APAC & America regions following the sun model. There are currently 3 Middleware teams providing support from USA, Singapore, and India to cover 24/7, 365 days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing L2/L3 Middleware support for operations for Global Payments & Market data applications towards quick restoral to meet the payments and trade settlement cut off times/SLAs.
- Always ensure smooth operational activity by providing on-call/after-hours/weekend support whenever needed towards quick restoral of any issues to make sure BAU.
- Apply Middleware quarterly patching for WebLogic, JBoss, WebSphere, Apache, JDK, and Tomcat products on UNIX servers to remediate GIS vulnerabilities.
- Create and renew SSL digital certificates to protect the application URLs.
- Perform weekend changes in the production environment.
- Support ARC and Contingency testing for applications
- Perform the automation of app code deployments.
- Performing the troubleshooting of Middleware product and application related issues for payment apps as part of Incident triage calls
- Build the Middleware environments for new projects. Involve into design and capacity planning with architecture and business teams.
- Perform analysis on day-to-day tasks and perform automation of application restarts, failovers, patching, and schedule jobs.
- Identify and implement the best practices across production environments to meet global operational excellence process.
- Escalate payment issues and other significate production outages to management.
- Liaison and collaborate with DevOps, App teams, Unix Admins, and DBA teams.
Requirements:
- 8-10 years’ experience supporting JBoss, JBoss DataGrid, WebLogic, WebSphere, Tomcat, IBM HTTP server, Apache.
- J2EE experience at large scale enterprise system level.
- Extensive scripting experience in Shell, Java, Python, and Ansible (CI/CD pipelines).
- Administration of Middleware using tool such as BladeLogic, PING Access (SSO), etc.
- Ability to troubleshoot Middleware products using various diagnostic tools towards fixing to meet payment’s cut-off/SLA timings.
- Hands on operating systems administration experience in RedHat Linux and Windows.
- Experience and understanding of peripheral systems (network, load balancing/workload management, application development, operating system), and with monitoring systems (Splunk, Dynatrace, etc.)
- Knowledge of industry security baselines.
- Create documentation for troubleshooting, performance, optimization, and remediation.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both business and technical management.
- Good understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Good to have Global Banking and Global Markets domain experience.
- Other financial industry experience in Consumer Banking, Investment Banking, and Insurance companies is ideal as well.
