Job Purpose

The Vice President/Director of Investment Consultant offers investment advice to clients, providing specific financial strategies and goals based on an individual's needs and preferences. They must also monitor investments and provide ongoing performance reports for investors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for advising clients and relationship managers on the latest market developments, investment products and investment strategies.
  • The investment consultant is expected to be updated on: (a) latest developments in relevant markets, asset classes and strategies, and (b) relevant secondary research and carry out proprietary research to improve risk-adjusted returns for investors.
  • Maintain financial models as may be required.
  • Recommend investment opportunities and risk mitigation strategies to clients and relationship managers.
  • Regularly meet with investment teams, including analysts and other managers, to stay up to date with market developments.
  • Develop relationships with clients and expand client network in professional and social settings.
  • Avoid all conflicts of interest with client portfolios.
  • Ensure all clients are treated equally and ensure any potential conflicts are resolved in a clear transparent manner, in line with the firm’s policies.
  • Support business development by meeting with potential investors as may be required from time to time.

Prior Work Experience

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in asset management or private banking.

Qualifications

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in a finance-related field such as accounting or economics.

Domain Skills

  • Investment expertise – should have an excellent grasp of the differences between investment-related-products and how they can support client goals.
  • Client service –should be able to understand a client’s goals and make financial decisions that support both long- and short-term investment objectives.
  • Familiarity with financial regulations – should possess a high level of knowledge regarding financial laws and procedures to protect client investments and ensure that they are making proper decisions.

Soft Skills

  • Networking – Experience with building relationships and networking to stay informed of industry trends.
  • Able to influence effectively at different levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High standard of work, accurate record keeping and attention to detail, able to organize and prioritize your own workload.
  • To be able to multi-task.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills able to drive forward positive solutions.
  • A team player and able to work independently using initiative.
