Job Summary:
The Van Driver is responsible for transporting goods and packages from one location to another, ensuring timely and safe delivery while adhering to road safety regulations. The role requires excellent driving skills, good time management, and the ability to handle different types of deliveries and customer interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation: Drive company vans to deliver products or packages to specified destinations.
Ensure the safe loading and unloading of goods, checking for damages and accuracy of delivery orders.
- Timely Deliveries: Follow the planned delivery schedule, ensuring deliveries are made on time.
Adjust routes to avoid traffic or road closures as needed to meet deadlines.
- Documentation and Records: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery receipts and any returns.
Use company systems or mobile devices to update delivery status and any relevant delivery details.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle, including checking fuel, oil, and general mechanical condition.
Report any vehicle issues or needed repairs to the Logistics Supervisor or Fleet Manager.
- Customer Service: Interact professionally with customers during deliveries, ensuring a high standard of service.
Address customer concerns or queries regarding the delivery, and communicate any issues to the team.
- Compliance with Regulations: Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety regulations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including vehicle cleanliness and cargo securing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving delivery vans or light commercial vehicles is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations.
- Ability to use GPS and other navigation systems.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge is a plus.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items (if applicable).
