- A Welder is responsible for joining metal components using various welding techniques to create strong, durable, and high-quality metal structures and parts.
- This role requires precision, technical skill, and adherence to safety standards to ensure that welds meet industry standards and project specifications.
- Perform welding operations using MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), SMAW, and other welding methods.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.
- Prepare metal surfaces for welding by cleaning, cutting, and grinding materials as needed.
- Assemble and fit metal components before welding, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Inspect welded joints for strength, quality, and appearance.
- Measure and test welds to ensure they meet industry standards and project requirements.
- Identify and correct welding defects and imperfections.
- Maintain accurate records of welding procedures, materials used, and inspection results.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Use protective gear such as gloves, helmets, and eye protection.
- Maintain and troubleshoot welding equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Work closely with other team members, including fabricators, engineers, and project managers, to ensure project goals are met.
- Proven experience as a welder, with a strong understanding of welding techniques and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to operate welding tools and equipment safely.
- Basic math skills for measuring and calculating material requirements.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in various physical positions, including standing, bending, and crouching.
- Exposure to noise, heat, and welding fumes.
- Good vision and hand-eye coordination.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
