Marine Superintendent

The Technical superintendent responsibilities are:

1. Ensure that the group of vessels assigned to him is performing according to the PG pool description and ship management agreements between PG and the respective ship owning company


2. Ensure that the group of vessels assigned to him is run and kept in a condition according to PG company policy and relevant rules and regulations applicable


3. Ensure the group of vessels assigned to him are manned with qualified crew.


4. Ensure that the operating cost for the group of vessels assigned to him is within limits, and that the future budget reflects the company policy with regards to quality and customer orientation.


5. Support PG Management on technical operational routines and development of maintenance policy / fleet management systems.



The Technical superintendent has the following special duties:

1. Make sure that the assigned vessel(s) at all times are maintained, crewed and kept in accordance with the rules and regulations applicable for the group of vessels assigned to him with regards to fulfilling same as well as any company policy, standard or instruction/guide-line relevant


2. Stay in regular contact with the vessel(s)


3. In a proactive manner perform a revolving condition assessment of the vessel(s) and its development, and to identify potential risk(s) which could violate a safe and efficient ship operation.


4. Coordinate the technical operations with the commercial operator(s), and in a proactive manner inform if any deficiencies occur on a vessel that is - or can become affecting the vessel’s performance.


5. Attend vessel(s) whenever there is a potential difficult technical situation.


6. Conduct at least 3(three) visits to every vessel per Year


7. Follow up on and control of operational systems and routines such as systematic maintenance, reporting, purchasing, accounting, cost control and budget deviation, as well as other matters concerning the vessel(s) operation


8. Evaluate received reports and verify that the reported items are correct, are reported at the correct time, and that reported items are within standards or guidelines for the matter reported


9. Verify that all economical commitments affecting the vessel(s) operating cost is thoroughly registered in the purchase and accounting system with cost estimates, and that vessel's cost estimates are deleted at the time of passing an invoice for payment.


10. Verify at regular intervals that the vessel(s) have their Class system and Statutory requirements maintained.


11. Perform a regular follow up of the Vessel Master Plan for each ship and evaluate deviation from the plans with adjustments and imposing of corrective measures as found necessary.


12. Give information and report to/from the vessel(s) and the company management. In case any deficiency occurs on a ship the head of department shall be informed accordingly.


13. Establish "company culture" on board the vessels in cooperation with the crew managers in achieving an efficient, quality conscious Ship Management in accordance with the policies of the company as well as the Shipboard Instructions Manual.


14. Ensure that the event registry in the databased Safety Management support software for registry and analyses of accidents, near accidents and non-conformities are kept up to date and that it reflects the condition of the vessel and its history.


15. Identify cost effective improvements, modifications and alterations of technical, operational or human nature which will gain the company in respect of being a quality and safety-oriented shipowner with a sound profit margin.


16. Assist in the selection of officers and crew for the vessel(s) responsibility.


17. The company has a comprehensive set of manuals in accordance which you shall perform your duties and work. Special attention should be given to the contents of the Office Instruction Manual and the Office Contingency Manual.


18. Assist Business Development Team in technical issues to ensure experience transfer between operation and projects.
