Job Description
A Chartering Manager is in charge of leading and guiding a team to meet the organisation's goals in the chartering business. Managing resources and risks, and negotiating with various parties on bunkers, spot and time charter deals as well as marketing tonnage are part of the job. The Chartering Manager evaluates potential business development opportunities to ensure profitability and competitiveness. This role requires sourcing optimal shipping solutions and maximising potential earnings while optimising costs. This job requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to conduct complex negotiations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Identify opportunities and execute voyages on chartering in tonnages in respective region.
Strategically select voyages that maximize earnings potential while ensuring operational efficiency.
Cultivating a robust customer network in respective regions
Analyse the freight market trend to review existing trends and develop new strategies
Work with Operation and Commercial teams to ensure smooth chartering operations
Perform accurate charter calculations
Negotiate and finalize charter party agreements
Monitor and manage performance of chartering business to optimise revenue
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies or related field
Minimum 15-20 years’ experience in dry bulk chartering / cargo operating Supramax, Handymax segment with strong tonnage exposure
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Profound knowledge of standard shipping terms and excellent skills to negotiate charter party terms
Strong command of both Mandarin and English, both written and spoken is essential.
