They are looking for a Regional Legal Counsel, Southeast Asia and South Asia.
Job Description
This role reports to the Branch General Manager.
- Establish and Manage Legal Operations:Set up legal frameworks for Affiliates, tailored to their specific needs (e.g., staffing, budget, language).
Handle legal matters to support business activities, profitability, and risk management.
- Collaboration:Work closely with Affiliate management, legal staff, and other departments (e.g., marketing, procurement, engineering).
Build and strengthen legal systems in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Support for Smaller Affiliates:Actively engage in legal operations (e.g., contract reviews, dispute resolution) for Affiliates without dedicated legal staff.
Collaborate with local attorneys to create tools like contractual checklists and negotiation guidance.
- Regional Oversight:Manage and supervise the legal operations of each Affiliate.
Provide strategic guidance on legal matters, ranging from large projects to routine transactions.
- Hands-on Approach:Strengthen legal frameworks for larger Affiliates.
Directly lead and implement legal practices in smaller Affiliates, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
The Successful Applicant
- Master's degree or higher in law or from equivalent institutions related to the relevant business.
- Experience in international legal affairs, particularly in litigation or dispute resolution.
- Experience in leading teams
- Background in the construction industry (desirable)
- Ability to identify business issues, develop solutions, propose, and implement them effectively
- Strong negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills and experienced working in multi-cultural environment as most staff in Affiliates are located outside Common Law jurisdictions (e.g., Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines).
