We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Chartering Executive/Trainee Charterer for one of our global shipping clients. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the chartering team in the commercial management of the tanker fleet, focusing on spot and time-charter operations. The individual will gain hands-on experience in negotiating contracts, market analysis, and vessel operations, with opportunities for career growth in the maritime industry.
Responsibilities:
· Monitor and analyze freight markets, trends, and competitor activity.
· Provide regular reports on market conditions, including rate assessments and vessel availability.
· Support the negotiation and conclusion of charter party agreements under the guidance of senior team members.
· Maintain relationships with brokers, charterers, and other industry stakeholders.
· Coordinate with Operations and Technical departments to ensure efficient and profitable execution of voyages.
· Monitor vessel performance and ensure compliance with contractual terms.
· Resolve any disputes or issues that may arise during voyages, with support from senior colleagues.
· Prepare and manage chartering documentation, including charter parties, invoices, and relevant reports.
· Ensure all activities are in compliance with international maritime regulations and company policies.
· Attend industry seminars and workshops to stay updated on market developments and best practices.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other industry contacts
Requirements
• Degree in maritime/shipping/oil & energy related or analytical (maths, economics, business)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skill
