Job Summary
Singapore Aquatics is seeking a passionate and organized individual to assist the High Performance Assistant Director and NTC Co-Lead Coaches, and coordinate sports science initiatives within the National Training Centre (NTC). This dual-role position will provide crucial support in athlete training, competition preparation, and integrating sports science innovations to optimize performance outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely to assist SAQ’s HP Team and also SSI/NYSI’s sports scientist, ensuring high-performance coaching and cutting-edge sports science practices are seamlessly implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Sports Science Coordinator:
· Assist the High Performance Assistant Director on overseeing the integration of sports science services (e.g., physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, recovery) into athlete training and competition programs.
· Work closely with external sports scientists, physiotherapists, and medical personnel to monitor athlete health, performance, and injury prevention.
· Collaborate on the implementation of evidence-based training and recovery protocols.
· Work to ensure data collection and analysis for athlete performance metrics and present findings to the coaching team.
· Ensure that sports science initiatives are aligned with long-term athlete development and peak performance objectives.
Coaching:
· Support the NTC Co-Lead Coaches in planning, preparing, and executing training programs for the NTC Squad.
· Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the squad, including athlete welfare, scheduling, and team communications.
· Provide on-deck coaching support during training sessions, contributing to technical and tactical development.
· Assist in the development of YPI and Seasonal Plan for athletes and ensure their consistent application in training.
· Liaise with athletes, coaches, and support staff to ensure smooth communication and coordination within the team.
· Help with logistics and travel arrangements for competitions and training camps.
Key Qualifications and Experience
· A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field. A Master’s degree is advantageous.
· 3+ years of experience in a high-performance sports environment, with demonstrated knowledge of integrating sports science into training programs.
· Prior experience in a coaching, performance analyst, or support staff role within a swimming or elite sports environment.
· Strong understanding of sports science principles, including nutrition, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and recovery.
· Prior experience as a high performance athlete will be advantageous.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
· International or Singaporean coaching qualifications (desirable but not mandatory).
