1) HIGH PERFORMANCE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (SWIMMING)


Job Summary

Singapore Aquatics is seeking a highly motivated and experienced High-Performance Assistant Director (HPAD) to lead the development and implementation of a high-performance strategy across Singapore’s swimming performance pathways together with the NHC&PD. This role will be responsible for fostering a performance-driven culture across the National Training Centre (NTC), Singapore Sports School (SSP), and affiliated clubs, ensuring that Singapore swimmers excel at regional, continental, and global competitions.


Key Responsibilities

High-Performance Strategy Development:

· Collaborate with the National Head Coach & Performance Director and Technical Director to design and execute a comprehensive high-performance strategy for Singapore Aquatics.

· Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the swimming community, with a focus on long-term athlete development and podium success.

· Ensure alignment of high-performance pathways across NTC, SSP, and club programs to create a cohesive system that nurtures talent at every level.


Performance Support Planning and Delivery:

· Lead the integration of performance support services for national swimmers, including strength and conditioning, sports science, nutrition, psychology, and athlete welfare programs.

· Work closely with sports scientists, medical professionals, and other performance staff to deliver tailored support that optimizes individual athlete performance.

· Will design a framework on sports science support for NTC with Sport Science Coordinator


Training Environment Optimization:

· Oversee the non-technical aspects of the swimmers' training environments, ensuring they are designed to support high-performance outcomes.

· Implement systems that promote the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of athletes, ensuring that they are in the best condition to compete.


Data Analysis and Performance Improvement:

· Drive the consolidation, analysis, and presentation of performance data, leveraging insights from various sources to inform strategic decision-making.

· Implement data-driven approaches to improve athlete performance and identify areas for intervention within the training and competition framework.

· Collaborate with coaches and support staff to ensure that performance improvements are targeted and tracked effectively.


Resource Allocation and Strategic Oversight:

· Oversee the strategic allocation of resources, including those provided by programs like spexCarding, spexPotential, spexScholarship, and spexEducation.

· Ensure equitable distribution of resources to maximize athlete development, performance, and the overall impact of the high-performance system.

· Monitor and manage budget allocations to ensure efficient use of funding and resources across all performance pathways.


Stakeholder Engagement:

· Engage with key stakeholders, including coaches, athletes, support staff, and external partners, to ensure alignment on performance objectives and strategies.

· Build and maintain relationships with organizations like Sport Singapore, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), and international swimming federations to enhance collaboration and support for performance initiatives.


Monitoring and Evaluation:

· Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of high-performance programs, making adjustments as necessary to optimize outcomes.

· Report on the progress and outcomes of performance programs to the Singapore Aquatics Executive Committee and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.


Key Qualifications and Experience:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Sports Science, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.

· Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in high-performance sport, with a focus on swimming or aquatic disciplines.

· Proven success in managing athlete development programs that have achieved international success.

· Strong knowledge of sports science, performance analysis, and high-performance environments.

· Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, with experience managing multidisciplinary teams and resources in a high-pressure environment.

· Visionary leader with a passion for building a high-performance culture in Singapore Aquatics.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships.

· Data-driven mindset, with strong analytical abilities to drive performance improvement through evidence-based decisions.
