Derivatives Analyst (Oil & Gas Trading)

Job Summary:

This is an exciting Derivatives Analyst opportunity at a leading energy trading firm in Singapore, where you will be an integral part of the Trade Support Team. You will work closely with traders, risk managers, and other key stakeholders to ensure accurate valuation and risk assessment of the firm's derivative positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and prepare daily margin calls based on the firm's exposure to counterparties.
  • Validate daily market prices by analyzing and constructing forward curves for oil-derived products and other related commodities.
  • Conduct back-testing and stress testing to assess the robustness of the forward curves.
  • Provide analysis and insights on oil-derived products such as LPG, LNG, gasoline, Naphtha etc.
  • Monitor market trends and developments in the energy sector to assess the impact on derivative portfolios.
  • Support the Risk Management team in the daily monitoring and reporting of market, credit, and operational risks related to derivative positions.
  • Work closely with traders, quants, and other analysts to ensure that derivative portfolios are accurately valued and risks are properly managed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies related to derivative trading and risk management.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in derivatives analysis, preferably within the energy trading sector.
  • Strong understanding of derivative products, including futures, options, and swaps.
  • Familiarity with oil-derived products and their market dynamics is a firm requirement.
  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and experience with trading and risk management systems (e.g., Eikon, ICE, CME).
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market information.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work under pressure.
