THE POSITION
The NPI Manager plays a critical role in driving the success of new business initiatives. As the leader of a technical team, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes, providing operational training, and overseeing New Product Introduction (NPI) projects. Your expertise will ensure that projects adhere to schedule, budget, and quality expectations while delivering innovative solutions to complex challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
· Lead NPI projects from concept to production, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality.
· Develop detailed project plans, including milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation.
· Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, design, production, quality) to ensure seamless project execution.
· Identify project risks, troubleshoot issues, and escalate significant delays or challenges to management.
Product Design & Development
· Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with customer specifications.
· Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews and provide feedback to optimize product designs.
· Participate in prototyping, testing, and validation activities to ensure product performance and manufacturability.
· Establish robust manufacturing processes, including work instructions and job sheets, for each production stage.
· Carry out Process FMEA to mitigate risks early in the development process.
Process Engineering
· Develop and optimize production processes to ensure high quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
· Specify tooling, equipment, and parameters for new product manufacturing.
· Implement process controls and conduct capability studies to ensure quality standards are met.
Continuous Improvement
· Identify and implement opportunities to improve NPI processes and product designs.
· Monitor production metrics and drive improvements in areas such as yield, scrap, and downtime.
Customer Support & Issue Resolution
· Serve as the primary point of contact for customer issues during new product launches.
· Manage change requests from customers, ensuring alignment with specifications, materials, and other requirements.
Training & Documentation
· Prepare comprehensive training materials and operation manuals.
· Provide training for operational staff to ensure a seamless production transition.
· Maintain up-to-date documentation on all relevant processes and procedures.
CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS
· Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
· Minimum 5 years of hands-on NPI experience in plastic injection molding or die casting manufacturing.
· Strong knowledge of CAD, Tool Design, DFM, FMEA, and Quality Control processes.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical and production issues.
· Candidates applying for the manager role must have supervisory experience overseeing a team of NPI engineers or technicians.
