NAFA’s pioneering Fine Art programme’s vision is to nurture empathetic artists and creative practitioners who are equipped to lead and shape the local and regional art scenes.

In this vital role, you will be engaged with students to experience a mix of traditional and contemporary approaches, gain exposure to 2D, 3D and 4D mediums, as well as to foster an abundance of opportunities for students to cultivate professional development with industry partners. You will supervise and assess student projects, while also organizing and coordinating artist talks, residencies, trips, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and other related events to enhance the learning experience.

In addition, you will be responsible for monitoring student progress and providing career guidance, while offering pastoral care and empathetic support to ensure students' overall well-being. Establishing and maintaining strong industry and institutional links is also critical to integrating academic knowledge with real-world industry practices, providing students with valuable professional connections and insights.

  • In addition, you should also demonstrate an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach to both teaching and practice, with a strong interest and a creative or research portfolio focused on the Southeast Asian context.
  • A proven track record in research, knowledge exchange, or professional practice that advances the field of Fine Art and aligns with the objectives of the School and Academy is essential.
  • To excel in this role, you must also employ effective pedagogical methodologies tailored to postgraduate-level teaching, utilizing innovative and reflective approaches to inspire learning, with a strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity in teaching, assessment, and feedback processes.
  • Moreover, demonstrating a positive, enthusiastic, and inspiring attitude would be vital, with the ability to engage students and understand the diverse experiences they bring to the Fine Art course.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required, with knowledge of a second language being an added advantage.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including academics, educators, artists, and cultural leaders, is a pre-requisite.
