Head of Corporate M&A and Strategic Projects, Asia Pacific
Location: Position will be based in Singapore
Reporting to: Head, Strategy, Sustainability and Regional Development Asia Pacific
Goal of position
The incumbent is responsible to support the overall corporate strategy and growth of Asia Pacific region, considering the growing economic and technological importance of the region. Schaeffler Group intends to build its capabilities with regards to Merger & Aquisition (acquisitions and divestitures), joint ventures, and partnerships alliances in the Asia-Pacific region.
Job Responsibilities
- Proactively build a dialogue with internal partners across Schaeffler’s divisions, within the region, its sub-regions, and the Schaeffler Group.
- Lead the formulation of regional and subregional M&A strategy, aligning with the Group’s M&A directives and the strategic growth ambitions of the region.
- Develop actionable aspects of the corporate strategy relevant to the role’s scope.
- Lead and execute M&A transactions from end-to-end, following the defined M&A strat-egy (from origination to execution).
- Actively develop regional cross-divisional M&A radars, defining areas and re-gions/subregions for potential acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and partner-ships, while maintaining a robust opportunity pipeline.
- Build and maintain a strong, experienced cross-functional network internally (within the region and globally) and externally, including potential transaction partners, advi-sors, and other M&A ecosystem partners, to create an effective structure for originating project ideas and building a project pipeline.
- Establish strong long-term relationships with the top management of targeted compa-nies in close cooperation with the relevant division, business unit, and Corporate M&A.
- Work closely with Corporate M&A and relevant internal and external parties and advi-sors in preparing and executing transactions, taking a leadership role in internal and external workstreams together with the business unit and Corporate M&A.
- Support the internal and external transaction approval processes at regional and glob-al levels.
- Continue involvement with the project, transaction partner, and internal stakeholders post-transaction, including integration and ongoing monitoring.
- Develop a regional M&A process closely aligned with the regional governance process and global M&A guidelines and processes.
- Perform post-deal analysis to ensure expected synergies are well managed and realized.
- Collaborate closely with and report to the A/P CEO, Strategy Team of the A/P region, as well as the global divisional Leadership team and Group Corporate Development and Strategy/M&A.
The Ideal Candidate
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of company valuation, development of business cases, and com-plex financial models
- Possesses relevant experience in capital markets, stock analysis, IPO, legal structuring, & due dili-gence
- Has strong analytical thinking with capacity to transfer between analysis and operative business
- Practical experience in leading M&A transactions
- Ability to question critically the strategic rational, due diligence results, business plan, and valuation of the proposed transaction
- Possesses work experience in the Automotive and Industrial sector
- Has an University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or another quantitative degree. MBA or CFA designation preferred
- Has at least 5 years’ direct deal experience gained through investment banking, private equity, and/or an active M&A-focused corporate development group or comparable functions
- Has Solid Finance and Accounting foundation. Advanced skills with Microsoft Suite products
- Has Solid leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment as well as with cross-functional and intercultural teams
- Has Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. German language skills a plus
- Possesses Extensive intercultural and work experience in the Region Asia/Pacific
- Ability to work within complex matrix organizations
- Ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks under changing deadlines
