Touchdown Sports is a fast-rising sports event management company in Singapore. The company is the organizer of Starlight International Youth Basketball Open (SIYBO), which since its launch in 2023, has become a major international youth touranment in Singapore. The SIYBO event is sponsored by the largest life insurance company, China Life, and supported by Sport Singapore. Now Touchdown Sports is preparing to organize SIYBO 2025.
We are looking for a person with a passion for basketball and project management. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organization skills to be able to manage numerous projects at once. A strong, detailed oriented self-starter with creativity and problem solving skills will thrive.
The Sports Event Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of basketball tournaments, from planning and coordination to execution and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of basketball, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This position requires strong leadership skills and a passion for promoting the sport of basketball.
Responsibilities:
- Tournament Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive plans for basketball tournaments, including scheduling, venue selection, and logistics.
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including teams, referees, sponsors, and venue staff, to ensure smooth tournament operations.
- Manage budgeting and financial aspects of tournaments, including revenue generation and expense tracking.
- Team Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with participating teams regarding tournament rules, schedules, and requirements.
- Oversee team registration processes, including collecting fees and verifying player eligibility.
- Provide support and assistance to teams throughout the tournament, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Game Operations:
- Oversee game-day operations, including setup, scorekeeping, and crowd control.
- Ensure that games run smoothly and according to schedule, addressing any delays or disruptions as needed.
- Coordinate with venue staff to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for players, officials, and spectators.
- Marketing and Promotion:
- Assist with developing marketing strategies to promote tournaments and attract participants, sponsors, and spectators.
- Utilize various channels, including social media, email marketing, and traditional advertising, to raise awareness of tournaments.
- Work closely with sponsors and partners to maximize exposure and support for tournaments.
- Evaluation and Feedback:
- Gather feedback from participants, officials, and stakeholders to evaluate the success of tournaments.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance future events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in sports management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience in event planning, preferably in the sports industry.
- Strong knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Exposure scheduling and League apps a plus.
