Director, Strategic Planning & Corporate Development

General Purpose of Position:

The role will support the Executive Director by providing analytical and planning advice for areas such as strategic planning, business development, fund-raising, corporate communications, and corporate services.


Strategic Planning

  • Supports the ED in driving successful implementation of strategic initiatives of CRL, through supervision of the role’s functional areas.
  • Formulate plans, initiatives, and measures within functional areas to support the implementation of CRL’s strategies.
  • Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress.
  • Identify trends and emerging issues that impact strategies and, where necessary, recommend alternative courses of action to the ED.
  • Work within the sector and with the CRL internal team to identify, review, and analyse new areas of growth, innovative technologies, and solutions that will contribute to the organization’s strategic planning process.

Business Development & Fund-Raising

  • Perform strategic reviews of available opportunities, conduct assessments to determine alignment with corporate strategy, and provide recommendations to the ED on pursuing opportunities further.
  • Actively source, reach, contact, and build relationships with potential leads and future donors and manage those relationships through organizing events, updating reports, etc.
  • Formulate fundraising strategies and produce and update collaterals such as donor updates and reports.
  • Manage the overall fundraising process, such as organizing fundraising activities, preparing pitch materials, supporting the due diligence process, and monitoring the performance of fundraising campaigns.

Corporate Services

  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators and performance management reviews and prepare progress reports for BOD meetings.
  • Track the progress of work plans and support efforts to improve and streamline existing management reporting tools.
  • Expand CRL’s marketing communications efforts, focusing on creating brand awareness and enhancing understanding of our service offerings.
  • Develop strategies and action plans by observing new/ developing trends and needs and initiating and developing new processes/structures to address changing needs.
  • Oversee and manage the financial function, including supervising the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets, forecasts, and projections.
  • Ensure procedures and reports comply with regulations.
  • Oversee and manage the HR function, including payroll, recruitment, learning and development, compensation, and performance management.
  • ensure that CRL’s internal control and governance measures comply with relevant regulations and requirements.

Any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
