As Legal Counsel, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive legal support as part of the legal services team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate and draft finance agreements, ensuring they meet business needs and regulatory standards.
- Provide advice and review existing contracts related to international shipping operations.
- Support corporate and commercial projects, particularly those led by senior management, focusing on corporate governance, capital markets, and sustainability initiatives.
- Monitor legal developments across relevant jurisdictions impacting the business, particularly in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Finance, IT, HSSE, and HR, to ensure legal compliance and support.
- Mentor junior legal staff as needed and conduct legal research to support ongoing projects.
- Contribute to the development of frameworks and research initiatives that enhance the value of the legal team.
- Execute crisis management responsibilities as necessary.
- Assist with emergency response procedures related to incidents and disputes in the region.
- Manage corporate secretarial functions, including corporate administration, board resolutions, and meetings.
Qualifications:
- Relevant legal degree and experience in maritime law. Experience as Legal Counsel within a ship owner would be desirable.
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
