IN BRIEF
The Account Manager will:
- Be responsible for the management of a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring that their deliverables are met and that they are receiving exceptional service from the agency.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their goals, target audience, brand voice, and overall marketing objectives.
- Develop and present to clients, aligning with their business objectives and industry best practices then work with the delivery team to execute these plans.
- Work to build and maintain strong, positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders, including internal team members and external partners.
- Be responsible for the management of the campaign deliverables for client briefs and the management and leadership of the delivery team.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for campaigns, analyzing data to measure the effectiveness and success of strategies. Have the ability to make informed decisions/changes.
- Foster respect from subordinates, peers, management and clients alike through thought leadership, creativity, industry knowledge and best practice.
- Be responsible for managing project budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered on budget and that invoices are sent out in a timely manner.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Capabilities & Experience
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in an account management role with a strong understanding of conflict resolution and team management
- Extensive experience in client relations and management
- An outstanding creative eye with an unwavering ability to champion the creative process
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

RESPONSIBILITIES
New Business / Growth
- Provide proactive creative proposals to existing clients to maximise on growth opportunities
- Support on New Business proposals & pitches if engaged as part of the pitch team
Relationship Management
Client
- Proven outstanding client relationship management, from junior staff through to executive level stakeholders through clear, consistent and concise written and verbal communication, presentations, chairing of client meetings, and the initiation of social activities and client entertaining
- Possess a sound knowledge of the client contract and account details
- Gatekeeper of information on the account: brand guidelines, products, market segment data and research
- Maintain a depth of knowledge on cultural and business affairs which supports the role of client adviser
Suppliers
- Initiation, development and ongoing relationship management of suppliers across all categories and disciplines to foster trust, goodwill and outstanding levels of quality and delivery whilst maintaining cost efficiencies and driving value
Internal
- Managing positive and collaborative inter-departmental relationships with other agency departments and Senior Leadership Team through planning, communication, direction, reporting and business intelligence
Mentorship and Guidance
- Management of junior team members through positive and exemplary leadership
- Guidance on best practice to junior team members through regular meetings by providing thought leadership, creative influencing and direction, logistical and technical advice and quality control on all of the team’s outputs.
Communication
- Mandate and maintain outstanding quality of all project documentation and administration from the team and ensure the timely dissemination to all relevant stakeholders
- Conduct regular WIP meetings with internal and external teams and clients to enable effective project planning
- Effective risk management though the identification, communication and escalation to mitigate negative outcomes
- Ensure agency-wide communications on project and team developments are maintained via weekly agency WIP meetings and other ad-hoc meetings as required
Creative Development & Championship
- Lead the development of all projects and proposals under your guidance with the delivery team, creative and strategy teams and any external third party suppliers as required and ensure creative output is of a high standard
- Demonstrate creative leadership through idea generation, cultural awareness, collaborative creative development meetings and creative direction throughout the proposal / reverse brief process
Process
- Ensure compliance and championship of internal DARKHORSE processes with internal and external stakeholders
Financial Accountability
- Thorough budget scoping to ensure all project requirements are accurately scoped with the appropriate level of detail and standard profit margins are established
- Provide consistent and accurate budget and hours reporting to the client on a regular basis to ensure cost changes are accurately tracked and Gross Profit Margin’s are maintained and increased throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure all project budgets maintain a minimum Gross Profit Margin, as determined by the business
- Ensure thorough and accurate budget reconciliations are completed for all projects within 30 days post project/campaign/event
- Client invoicing and cash flow management on all projects to ensure projects are always in positive cash flow
