Primary responsibilities:
- To handle analytical testing for all analytical projects and chemical laboratory operation.
- Participate & upkeep all technical functions in accordance with ISO17025
- Participate & upkeep of key activities such as:
- Develop, review an validate analysis procedure
- Review analytical data and reports
- Maintain and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations
Specific responsibilites:
- Participate in laboratory operations – analytical testing support and management
- Complete daily activities for quality procedures and testing.
- Maintance of equipment, so it is qualified according to the guidelines.
- Ensure all equipment is calibrated and maintain at scheduled interval.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate external contractors for repair and maintenance work as required.
- Identify hazards of new and existing activities to assist in completing and implementing Risk Assessment.
- Ensure suitable and sufficient risk controls are implemented and applied at all times.
- Ensure minimum waste and spillages during operations
- Promote good housekeeping and safe system of work
Requirements:
- Degree in Chemistry or related field.
- 1 - 4 years’ experience in chemical laboratory operation.
- Added advantage to have prior management experience in analytical laboratory ISO17025 quality assurance activities
- Good knowledge in both chemistry or EHS operations preferred.
- Able to involve actively as team player towards a common goal
- Experience in the use of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC,GCMS, TOC, etc have added advantage in consideration for this role.
- Able to work independently and to coordinate several activities simultaneously
- Good knowledge of EPA,APHA,EP,USP,JP,NIOSH, OSHA.
- Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Acts quickly and decisively; able to make tough calls
