Job Summary:
The Electrical Superintendent will manage and oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems on FPSO projects. The role requires ensuring all electrical activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and international standards. This position involves supervising electricians, subcontractors, and other personnel, while ensuring all electrical systems and equipment meet operational and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power generation, distribution, and control systems on FPSO vessels.
- Ensure all electrical work adheres to project specifications, industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC), and regulatory requirements (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
- Manage electrical teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely execution of electrical works, maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure the constructability and operability of electrical systems on the FPSO.
- Oversee the installation of electrical equipment, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, lighting systems, and communication networks.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify electrical work complies with project requirements, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues encountered during construction and commissioning, ensuring timely resolution and minimizing project delays.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with project management, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other systems on the FPSO.
- Provide technical support and guidance during the startup and commissioning phases to ensure the successful handover of electrical systems.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on electrical project progress, schedules, and potential risks or delays.
- Ensure the proper documentation of all electrical work, including as-built drawings, test certificates, and compliance records.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience in electrical construction.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in electrical supervision, with at least 5 years in a superintendent role within the oil and gas or offshore industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems used in FPSO vessels, including high-voltage and low-voltage power systems, control systems, and hazardous area equipment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with electrical safety regulations, classification standards (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s), and industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to supervise large teams in a construction environment.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide quick, effective solutions.
