Job Summary:
The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and management of electrical systems for FPSO projects. This role involves leading a team of engineers, ensuring the safe and efficient design and operation of electrical systems including power generation, distribution, and control systems on FPSO vessels. The Lead Electrical Engineer will ensure all work complies with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical engineering design for FPSO projects, including power generation, distribution, control, and communication systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC), client specifications, and regulatory requirements (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
- Supervise the selection, specification, and installation of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motors, generators, and lighting systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (process, instrumentation, mechanical) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall FPSO operations.
- Review and approve electrical design documentation, including drawings, calculations, data sheets, and technical specifications.
- Oversee the testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
- Develop and implement electrical system maintenance strategies for FPSO operations to ensure long-term asset integrity.
- Manage electrical engineering teams, including mentoring junior engineers and ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure all electrical systems adhere to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines and safety standards.
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure compliance with project objectives.
- Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning phases of FPSO projects.
- Stay updated with technological advancements in electrical systems and apply innovative solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead role, preferably within the oil and gas industry and FPSO projects.
- Strong knowledge of FPSO electrical systems, including high-voltage and low-voltage systems, power distribution, and control systems.
- Proficiency with electrical engineering software (e.g., ETAP, AutoCAD, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC) and classification society rules (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, with experience in troubleshooting complex electrical issues in offshore environments.
