REPORTS TO Senior Principals, Asia
PURPOSE
Lead, direct and work on a range of projects across Asia with a focus on enhancing design and delivery outcomes and processes, while strengthening the regions project management, resourcing and coordination efforts, working with the Asia team, and also the wider Interiors team in Asia-Pacific.
Key Responsibilities
- Take on a lead project management role for all interior design projects across Asia, working closely with all relevant internal teams.
- Work closely with our project design teams to provide key design aspects and direction, including in the delivery phase.
- Provide direct advice, input and guidance to project teams across a range of projects.
- Where required, assist in key client facing interactions focused around communicating/presenting interior design concepts and approaches to our clients.
- Naturally coach, mentor and develop our next generation of interior designers.
- Develop and prepare design presentations to clients, communities, and other stakeholders such as government representatives and public agencies.
- Assist with team member resourcing for Asia, working closely with other senior interior design team members in the region to ensure cross pollination, utilisation and team member growth and development.
- Support the enhancement of our design culture and encourage team members to pursue design-based solutions.
- Play a role in connecting all interior team members together across the region including, but not limited to project placements, on-the-job coaching and mentoring, design discussions, training workshops around delivery.
- Be solution focused in the requirements of clients, project managers, contractors and team members during the design realisation, project documentation and construction administration.
- Inventive and creative thinking including spatial and environmental design, master planning, story creation reflecting research and location criteria.
- Assist Project Lead in the day-to-day operations of the project and tasks delegated.
- Time management and communication with Project Lead and team members of assigned tasks and deliverables to meet fast paced project demands.
- Attend office meetings, team briefings and openly communicate and provide reports to Project Lead on a regular basis regarding the progress of individual projects and tasks under their responsibility.
- Assist in the maintenance of office systems including updating of the Integrated Management System.
- At all times ensure the safety of yourself, team members, clients and visitors at workplace/site locations.
- Develop an awareness of and follow all current Policies and Procedures for the location, region and global practice.
Qualifications
- University Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in Interior Design (or similar) from a recognised university.
Knowledge and Experience
- 15+ years in an interior design field.
- Extensive experience in the hospitality design field.
- Proven track record of highly recognised interior design outcomes and delivery.
- Deep knowledge of interior design trends including Asia Pacific Design Styles with commercial applications.
- Experience organising and managing teams of designers, along with coaching and mentoring them.
- Experience in presenting compelling information to clients and stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Extensive understanding of materials, finishes and colour palettes used in the industry along with ongoing developments in these fields.
- Good understanding how interior design documentation packages and details are put together for a range of project scales.
- Experience in architectural practice of similar size or project/s.
- Knowledge and experience in using BIM and Revit for architectural documentation.
- High level technical knowledge of architectural project delivery.

- Clear and considered communication skills with an obvious strength in presenting interior design concepts and their delivery.
- Demonstrable skills in the areas of design, presentation, documentation and/ or delivery
- Strong project management skills to ensure projects are well planned, managed and delivered on time, to budget and according to the quality standards required.
- Demonstrable skills using Microsoft Office products and presentation software
- Intermediate to advanced level skill with Revit software.
- Stakeholder management and client engagement capabilities to deliver outcomes and value.
