Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University company logo

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Built on a culture of excellence, NTU is renowned for its high academic standards and research. With more than 130 faculty members and an enrolment of more than 4,000, of which close to 1,000 are graduate students, it is one of the largest EEE schools in the world and ranks 4th in the field of Electrical & Electronic Engineering in the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subjects. Centre for Bio-device & Bioinformatics (CBB) focuses on the conduct of advanced research in the field of bio-devices, bio-imaging, and signal processing and analysis and the Lee Lab focuses on developing autonomous microsystems as the next generation bio-devices/systems to advance bioinformatics.

The Research Fellow will leverage existing fabrication facilities and tools at Nanyang Technological University, A*STAR, and other accessible facilities, to fabricate microscale optoelectrical and/or optomechanical devices and to integrate the microscale devices on conventional complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) die/wafers. The Research Fellow will work on a project to conduct the research on design and fabrication of autonomous microsystems and the concomitant optoelectrical power and communications interface to enable low power smart physiological sensors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and fabrication of III-V micro-scale light emitting diode / photovoltaic devices
  • Development III-V micro-scale photovoltaic devices light emitting diode (PVLED)
  • Transfer and integration fabrication of the III-V and other 2D materials-based devices on conventional CMOS die / wafers.
  • Development of compact and cost-effective opto-electrical interface to power and communicate with autonomous microsystems.
  • Design and development of next generation microdevices, complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) circuits, and their integration.

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Materials Science Engineering or related field.
  • At least 3 years research experience in a related area
  • Expertise in optoelectrical interfaces
  • Expertise in microfabrication and metrology
  • Expertise in layout design of optoelectrical microdevices based on III-V and 2D materials
  • Knowledge in interfacing circuit design for power extraction
  • Publication track record
  • Proficiency in basics of programming languages such as C, C++, Matlab and Python
  • Excellent communication skills. (Both written and verbal)

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
