Overview


We are seeking a dynamic Communications Professional to join our team, focusing on advancing Singapore American School’s fundraising and alumni engagement efforts. This role will create compelling, donor-centric content across multiple platforms, supporting the school’s first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. Working closely with the Advancement and Communications teams, the professional will craft impactful stories, manage multi-channel communications, and engage key stakeholders to inspire philanthropic support. The ideal candidate will have strong writing skills, a deep understanding of donor motivations, and experience in nonprofit or advancement communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes, writes, and edits a variety of materials including, but not limited to, compelling and persuasive communications in support of the school’s fundraising and alumni engagement programs. Examples of such communications could include: impact-driven personalized major gift stewardship reports, collaterals to promote campaign gift priorities, annual giving appeals signed by school leaders, event invitations,, special publications, feature articles, website copy, blog posts, speaking notes for school leaders at events, multimedia scripts, social media posts, and others
  • Work with content creators to create content across a variety of media
  • Research content and gather information relating to assigned writing projects, which may include interviewing subject matter experts
  • Fact-checks and proofreads written materials for sign-off by Chief Advancement Officer.
  • Liaises with internal and external individuals, including donors, prospects, and alumni, to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and consistency of messaging and content in relevant communications programs.
  • Develops and manages timelines and work plans for writing projects, ensuring multiple, overlapping deadlines are met.
  • Problem-solving on writing-related projects, ensuring that all necessary factual material has been included in the written materials, and that feedback has been considered and incorporated into the final product while maintaining a focus on the audience’s needs.
  • Create processes to effectively manage content distribution
  • Be a team player. You’ll work closely with all departments to publicize our stories across multiple platforms
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all records, correspondence, etc. in a well-organized and accessible manner
  • Fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position and abide by all Board policies
  • Creates content for the school community to be published in the appropriate channels based on the targeted audience (eNews, Journeys, social media, advertorials, webinars, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Experience in creating communications for development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a high level of proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation are essential
  • Ability to adapt writing styles for various purposes, for different media requirements, and for different audiences
  • Ability to manage projects and work with a variety of stakeholders to see projects to fruition
  • Ability to synthesize concepts and ideas into clear, concise, and compelling written and designed documents
  • Demonstrated ability in storytelling and persuasive writing
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment but to also work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to be thorough, accurate, and exercise a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Tact and diplomacy skills in addition to awareness and ability to work within an environment that requires confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure of high volume and meet daily deadlines.
  • Advanced research, fact-checking, communications planning and interviewing skills
  • Ability to track and plan numerous communications initiatives and create communications products through in-depth questioning and interpretation of complex ideas

  • Chinese fluency
