As a Desktop Support Engineer at Igus Singapore, your role involves providing technical assistance to IT users. You troubleshoot issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripherals, ensuring system uptime. Additionally, you assist users with training and maintain documentation of support requests and resolutions.
Responsibilities:
Daily maintenance of IT equipment:
1. Maintenance, Updates and Patches
- Participate in daily IT system maintenance, manage user equipment according to IT regulations, perform preventive maintenance to minimize failure rate.
- Manage the server room according to IT regulations, conduct daily inspection and monitoring, keep the server room clean and free from damage.
2. Assets (& vendor) Management
- Purchase software and hardware according to requirements, maintain IT asset list, and record the status of the company's hardware and software utilization.
3. Performance Monitoring
- Monitor various IT system Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report any anomalies to the business specialists
- Maintain IT infrastructure documentation (system documentation, system setup, hardware and software purchases, licenses, contracts, agreements)
Provide User Support:
1. Provide hardware and software installation services based on user requirements and approval from
supervisors
2. Provide level 1 support and training to coworkers on IT related matters
3. Escalate issues to business specialists (level 2/3) or the global IT team (level 3) according to predefined
processes
Supports daily backup, restore and disaster recovery:
1. Support the IT infrastructure team in the implementation of the disaster recovery plan and regular testing of all
aspects of the plan (e.g., data backups).
Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by Asia IT Management.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be expected to possess and display the following skills, knowledge and attributes in order to excel in the role:
- Degree/Diploma in Information Technology/Computing or an appropriate related field or discipline with a minimum three (3) year relevant work experience in technical role.
- Knowledge of Microsoft productivity tool suite such as MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows client-side operating systems and familiarity with the server-side
- Knowledge of IT networking (Cisco, Dell, switches, routing and firewalls, etc.)
- Knowledge of the use of IT security tools (anti-virus software, security
- People-oriented: able to work with a wide range of users
- Adaptable to work under pressure: able to continue to execute and deliver under short deadlines and challenging situations
- Leadership: able to lead vendors on projects
- Team player: contributes and supports teammates when necessary
