Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with a strong background in marine dredging and document control.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety and health practices on marine dredging sites, while also managing and coordinating documentation across technical, operations, purchasing, and inventory sections.
Job Responsibilities:
- Safety Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policy and structure as well as safety programs in compliance with regulatory requirements for marine dredging and all other marine activities.
- Recommend and propose regular cost-effective and optimisation improvements plan forinternal safety protocols.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to ensure a safeworking environment.
- Prepare safety report such as Risk Assessment (RA), Safe Work Procedure (SWP), Permit-to-work for shipyard & maintenance state and other necessary documentation for management and regulatory bodies.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, identify root causes, and provide recommendations for preventive measures.
- Act as the main liaison with authorities (MOM).
- Conduct departmental onboarding and safety briefings, training, and toolbox talks with workers to promote awareness of safety practices.
- Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
2. Document Control
- Ensure proper documentation prepared by each section, review and file the documents for technical, operations, purchasing and inventory section.
3. WSH Compliance
- Ensure WSH compliance for operations to shipbuilding and ship-repairing, marine dredging and maintenance.
- Oversee the safety of marine equipment, vessels, and operations during all marine activities.
Job Requirements:
- Certified Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in marine dredging or marine construction.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to marine works.
- Strong familiarisation with marine dredging equipment and procedures.
- Experience in document control or records management across technical, operations, purchasing, and inventory sections is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate between departments for documentation purposes.
- Ability to work in challenging environments and adapt to the specific safety needs of marine projects.
- Strong in self-initiative, able to plan and execute all safety related activities with management approval.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Office and other software (Novade etc).
